EUR/USD Trade Journal: A 24-Pip Buy After a Rejection-Candle Break

This EUR/USD trade journal reviews my New York-session buy on July 15, 2026. The journal records entry at 1.14421 and exit at 1.14661: a 24-pip move, with a rounded result of 2R.

The setup in my journal

My notes identify a one-hour fair value gap as an obstacle to further upside. Price initially respected that area, and I marked the high and low of the rejection candle.

I also noted that the US Dollar Index, or DXY, was moving lower. According to the journal, I entered after price broke the rejection candle’s high and a 15-minute candle closed.

Entry, risk and result

Pair and direction EUR/USD buy
Session New York
Entry 1.14421
Stop loss 1.14302
Take profit and exit 1.14661
Result Win; 24 pips; rounded 2R

The entry and stop imply 11.9 pips of initial price risk. The 24-pip entry-to-exit distance is approximately 2.02 times that risk. These are price distances, not net account returns after costs.

What I learned

The lesson I recorded was to examine what price was respecting and what stood in the way of the intended direction. In this example, my focus shifted from the initial rejection at the one-hour gap to the subsequent break of the marked candle’s high.

I recorded confidence before the trade and satisfaction afterward, with no mistake tag. That describes this journal entry; it does not establish that the approach will work consistently.

The move after my exit

My later note says price reached a weekly fair value gap and then began falling. I also wrote that a 3R target could have been reached. That is a retrospective observation from my notes. The recorded exit remains 1.14661 and the recorded outcome remains approximately 2R.
