Free trading journal template

Use the same journal fields I use for trade reviews

This blank template uses the trading fields from my own Forex Trade Journal 2.0 workflow. It helps you record the setup, risk, execution, screenshots, emotions and lesson in one place. It contains no private trade entries or account information.

Download the blank CSV template ↓

How to use it in Notion: Download the CSV, then use Notion’s Import → CSV option to make a new database. Delete the clearly marked example row. Change the field types as described below before recording trades. Add screenshots directly to each journal page.

Set up the Notion properties

Use Trade as the title property; Date as a date; Entry Price, Stop Loss, Take Profit, Exit Price, Pips and R:R Actual as numbers. Set Pair, Direction, Session, Result, Emotion Before and Emotion After as Select. Set Setup Tags and Mistake Tags as Multi-select. Set Reason, What Price Did Later and Lesson Learned as text. Convert Chart Screenshots to Files & media; CSV imports cannot attach local image files for you.

A useful review routine

  1. Before the trade, write down the setup reason, entry, stop and target. Screenshot the higher-timeframe context.
  2. After the trade, record the actual exit, result and emotion. Add your lower-timeframe execution screenshots.
  3. After the session, write one lesson and tag any recurring setup or mistake. Review several entries together before changing rules.

Keep any broker statements, account numbers and private financial details outside a public journal. This template is for your own recordkeeping and education; it is not trading advice.
